Hotel Altberlin Am Potsdamer Platz - Berlin

This charming hotel is very beautifully set up, with a great location close to the center. the staff is friendly, and there is a lavish breakfast buffet. the rooms are big with balconies and bathtubs, providing a nice old-fashioned character. the hotel also offers good security and is open 24 hours a day. it is conveniently located close to the subway and bus stations, making it easy to explore the city and visit the nearby museums.

The hotel's fixtures, fittings, and rooms have a tired look and feel, which could be improved.

The quality of food for breakfast was not bad and the location, despite being in an area which is far for being glamorous (surrounded by closed shops, popular houses, etc...), is relatively close to Potsdammer Platz (15 min walk). The bus stop is in front of the hotel and the underground at 10 min walk.

I don't recommend this hotel at all. The first night we were given a small stinky smoking room despite booking for a no-smoking room (changed after the first night). The no-smoking room was facing the road, so noisy that you could play to guess what car was smoking rubber at the red light nearby ("is this a v8 bmw m3 or rather an Aston Martin Vantage??? No, probably it's a Jaguar..."). Of course no air conditioning. In the breakfast room (a small bar-restaurant nearby) the number of tables is limited and when one became available the waiter, instead of cleaning it, left the cups on the dirty table and went outside to smoke a cigarette...no comment!

The best what was is the only very good localisation very close to Potsdamer Platz. Hotel seems to be rather more romantic than practical.

Breakfast could gives more choices. Elevator is always in half way to the floor so you always need to cary your staff or kids or 10 high steps up nor down. standard rooms are quite small.

The hotel is conveniently located near Potsdam square, making it easy to explore the city center. The staff at this hotel are helpful and provide excellent customer service. The breakfast offered at this hotel is fantastic, with a wide variety of options to choose from.

Our stay at this hotel was great and we had no complaints.

The hotel's location is very good, in the city centre, many places of interest are near to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nice and rather abundant. The rooms are big enough, clean, cosy and comfortable.

There is no a tea-kettle in the room.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The location was fantastic, with easy access to public transportation. The subway station and bus stop were just a short walk away, making it convenient to explore the city. The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast provided was delicious, and the WiFi connection was fast and reliable. the hotel had secure parking available at a reasonable price. the hotel had great facilities and was in a convenient location near the city center.

Didn't dislike anything about the hotel.

Styling, 1920's concept was good.

During my Christmas stay at this hotel, I enjoyed the great location that was close to the city center and offered easy access to public transport. there were many amazing eateries around to satisfy my cravings. The room I stayed in had a nice and quiet view overlooking the courtyard, which was a significant plus point for me.

The hotel had many shortcomings, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The room's level of comfort was poor, the cleaning services were inadequate, and there wasn't any air conditioning, causing discomfort during the stay.

Good breakfast, nice court yard.

There was a smell in the hallway

Quirky hotel - very well situated for transport - bus stop and u line very close. Good bus service into Berlin. Great if you want to avoid an international hotel with the blandness that goes with it. Excellent buffet breakfasts catering for all tastes. Efficient and helpful staff - though not over friendly. Some late night food outlets in the area. Did not eat at the hotel in the evening- though the menu looked interesting. Very international guests. Would stay there again and recommend it to others.

This hotel is in an excellent position just walking distance from Potsdamer Platz. Public transport is outside the hotel door. We required an upgrade for a third family member when checking in, and, courtesy of reception, received a lovely spacious room. The breakfasts were cooked on the spot and were huge, served in a delightful dining room. The old atmosphere with staff in period costume and old time music, added to the experience. And it was an inexpensive hotel!

For some, the street facing rooms might be a little noisy. For us it was a minor inconvenience.
